The First Paint Tin: In 1868, at the end of the American Civil War, the first patent for a metal paint tin with a tightly fitting lid was issued by Inventor Mr Henry Sherwin. It wasn't until 1880 that He had perfected his paint colours, that the first tin of paint was released onto the market.  

Keeping to this tradition, each candle lid is tightly fitted to the rim of the tin, only accessible with a butter knife or object alike.
